Founded by Susan Holland in 1995, Holland Engineering has provided civil engineering design services for top builders, architects, developers, property managers, and corporate leaders for over 25 years.

A respected engineer with over 40 years of career experience, Susan was formerly the City Engineer for the City of Fort Lauderdale. She has worked with more than 600 clients over the years, including the United States Department of Agriculture, the cities of Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, and Delray Beach, Broward County and the school boards of Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties.

With Susan at the helm, our team of engineers specializes in civil engineering for a multitude of projects; multi-family developments, commercial office buildings, hotels, retail buildings, industrial warehouse developments, and various government projects. As a WBE (Woman-Owned Business Enterprise), Holland Engineering prides itself on being a trailblazing force in the engineering industry.

Our Expansion

In 2012, Susan partnered with Catherine MacAskill. Catherine, whose background includes over two decades in yachting and business coaching, is a business management expert who excels in creative marketing, critical issue resolution, business sales and business practice innovations.

With this new team, Susan and Catherine discovered an unfilled niche in the marketplace, property owners who require an engineering firm to meet governmental compliance mandates. They moved quickly into this speciality, which evolved into them becoming compliance experts for properties dealing with government mandates and state/federal regulations across four areas: marina National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) compliance, construction NPDES inspections, Sanitary Sewer Evaluations Surveys (SSES), and Stormwater 5-year renewal certifications.

As these new facets of the firm took off, Catherine and Susan created a turnkey solution for their clients, delivering all engineering-related services in one place. The firm is now a leader in project management, overseeing and managing engineering design, permitting, inspection services, contractor management and certifications.

Together, they streamlined the engineering inspection processes, while developing the firm’s compliance knowledge and expertise. Holland Engineering has developed into a leader in NPDES compliance, Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Surveys and stormwater certifications, recognized by State, County and City authorities as providing plans, reports and calculations that meet the most stringent requirements.

All project and engineering-related services, from inception to completion, are available in-house and managed by a team of experienced professionals. Additionally, the team’s compliance knowledge and expertise ensure that clients have total peace of mind since the firm can now handle all of the regulations related to their properties.

Susan Holland is a Professional Engineer and the founder of Holland Engineering. She is responsible for the overall engineering design, construction specifications, permitting, scheduling, cost estimates, bidding, project management and documentation as it relates to the firm’s civil engineering design services. Susan’s experience includes over 30 years of providing engineering services for private and public clients. Her design experience includes sanitary sewer systems and pump stations, water distribution, stormwater management, land development and roadway design. Prior to Holland Engineering Inc., Susan served as the City Engineer for City of Fort Lauderdale; project manager for General Development Utilities Corp.; design engineer for City of Hollywood; and project engineer for Florida Power & Light. She was named Engineer of the Year in 1999. With over 30 years of engineering experience in southeast Florida, she is familiar with all permitting requirements for engineering projects throughout the area and has a proven track record of coordinating her projects with various governmental agencies.

Originally from Canada, Catherine arrived in South Florida via the yachting industry in 1994. After sailing over 27,000 nautical miles, she established roots in Fort Lauderdale after obtaining an investor visa in 2001. After running two successful businesses in Broward County, Catherine used her platform to support others, becoming a business coach in 2011. A passionate entrepreneur and business visionary, Catherine shared her extensive business knowledge and expertise with clients ranging from CEOs to large companies and executive teams. Catherine excels in project management and critical issue resolution, which she brings to Holland Engineering as the founder of the government compliancy, certification and inspection division. She provides professional project management throughout the compliancy process, ensuring the highest quality control and customer service. She has been instrumental in making Holland Engineering a South Florida leader for Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Surveys,  NPDES marina and construction compliancy, and stormwater certifications.
